At the 2/17/10 meeting Detachment Vice Commandant Mike Clark was presented with a Distinguished Service Award by Commandant George Kelly. At the 12/16/09 meeting Detachment members Kelly, Clark, Heenan, Clendennan and Fricke were presented certificates for meritorious service in the Detachment Color Guard. Commandant Kelly presented Northampton Police Chief Barry Pilla with a commendation on 12/16/09 for supporting the Detachment in its goals and community involvement.
New member Donald Barder was sworn in by Commandant George Kelly on 12/13/09. Detachment members helped welcome home from Afghanistan Marine Corporal Michael Potts at the 12/9/09 Northampton Board of Supervisors meeting.

Detachment 1230 May 2009 citations for its website and webmaster, along with a PA MCL award for overall community service was presented to Pete Palestina and George Kelly at the 11/18/09 meeting..

Just before the flag ceremony on Veterans Day 11/11/09 Holland Middle School student Taryn Wilson recited a poem for veterans entitled Moonlit Soldier. Members joined her afterwards. Detachment was on hand 11/11/09 when Richboro resident Karen Roman was honored by Northampton as Distinguished Citizen for her work on the Toys For Tots campaign. The Detachment was on hand to assist with a Northampton Flag placement for L. Cpl. Nioclas Hope at the Supervisors meeting held 11/11/09.
Veterans Day 11-11-09 Detachment members attended events at Holland Middle School and the unveiling of a Veterans Garden created by Eagle Scout Jared Kozak.

On 10/14/09 the Detachment also assisted with flag ceremonies honoring Army Captains Kevin Loughnane and Jim Devlin.

On 10/14/09 the Detachment participated in a welcome home for Army Specialist Sean Simons and Army Captain Kelly Boone.

On 9-13-09 Detachment members led the NH Days parade and participated in the flag raising ceremony.

On 8/12/09 the Detachment assisted Northampton Township with a welcome home for Air Force Master Sgt. Paul Capinas and Army Sgt. Matthew Godfrey.

Detachment provided a rifle squad at the Bucks County Korean War Memorial on 7/25/09 7/25/09 with Congressman Patrick Murphy at the Korean War Memorial Ceremony On 5/24/09 members had another good day selling raffle tickets to benefit vets in need and their families.
Memorial Day 2009 at 0800 hours the Detachment performed their annual flag lowering ceremony in front of the Northampton Township building. Detachment participated with Color Guard and rifle salute Memorial Day 2009 at the Robert H. Dembowski, Jr. Veterans Memorial Park, Northampton Township. Newest member Pearson Crosby is sworn in at the 5/20/09 Detachment meeting by Commandant George Kelly.
On May 13, 2009 Detachment members assisted in welcoming home from Iraq, L. Corp. Thomas Lavelle. members assisted Harriette Emerson in the flag presentation on 4/22/09 for her son Stephen Emerson who is in Iraq for his 2nd tour. New members William Aschinger and Matt Devlin are sworn in at the 4/15/09 Detachment meeting by Vice Commandant Mike Clark.
Detachment members were on hand at the 3/25/09 Northampton Supervisors welcome home and flag return ceremony for USMC Sgt. William Aschinger Commandant Kelly and Detachment Officers were sworn in at the installation meeting of 3/18/09.  Afterwards prospective members Pearson Crosby, Matt Devlin and Bill Aschinger shown here being recruited by Rich Gresko & Joe Fabrizio.

At the 2/25/09 Township meeting, Detachment members assisted in the welcome home ceremony for Air Force Col. Paulette Schank and which was followed by a USMC flag placement for L. Cpl. Kevin Padova.
Commandant Kelly, on 1/21/2009, presented Detachment member Mike Lecker with a citation for his work in arranging Veterans Day activities at the Holland Middle School. The Detachment welcomed home from Afghanistan Corporal Stephen Bitting at the Detachment meeting of 1/21/2009. Detachment members were on hand to welcome home Army Specialist Corey Richardson at the 12/17/08 Northampton meeting.

The Detachment marched in the parade and held a flag raising ceremony at Northampton Days on 9/7/08. Commandant Kelly accepts flag for raising from Gretel Bleich. On 9/10/08 the Detachment attended the Supervisors meeting to honor 2 Marines and 2 Army soldiers who were fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. On 6/25/08 the Patriot Detachment was on hand to assist in honoring Army Captain Kelly Boone whose parents placed Kelly's flag in the display while she is serving in Iraq.
Detachment members had an excellent day selling raffle tickets on 5/24/08 for the PA MCL. Detachment Color Guard displays the colors during the National Anthem at the Robert H. Dembowski, Jr. Veterans Memorial Park dedication on 5/26/08. Detachment gathers for the annual Memorial Day flag lowering at the Northampton Twp. building on 5/26/08.
Detachment members took part in the flag placement ceremony on 4/23/08 at the Township meeting where L. Cpl. William parks and Corporal William O'Hara honored. Patriot Detachment 1230 Officers and Trustees are sworn into office at the 3/19/08 installation ceremony by Central Bucks Detachment's Bill Miller. Commandant George Kelly presents Distinguished Service Award to Pete Palestina on March 19, 2008 for his efforts in establishing and administering the Northampton Patriots Flag Program.
Detachment members welcomed home L. Cpl. James Browning at the 2/13/08 Northampton Board of Supervisors meeting.  Also shown are mom Pat, fiancee Colleen and Supervisors Chairman George Komelasky Detachment members welcomed home Army Sgt. Michael Pinciotti at the 12/12/07 Northampton Board of Supervisors meeting.  We also were on hand for the townships annual Blue Light Ceremony honoring fallen police officers.
The Patriot Detachment was well represented at the 232nd Marine Corps Birthday Ball held on 11/10/07 at the Headquarters Battery, 3rd Battallion, 14th Marines in Philadelphia.

Students and faculty of Holland Middle School honored local Veterans on 11/9/07.  On hand for the detachment were: Henry Apice, Mike Clark, Jim Clendennen, Darwin Dobson, John Heenan, George Kelly, Michael Lecker, Harry Niemann, Pete Palestina, Arthur Ruth, Michael Triner. Other Marines on hand were: Richard Brennan, Thomas Crow, Joseph Fabrizio and Francis McMenamin The Detachment provided the Color Guard and led the Northampton Days parade on 9/9/07. They also conducted the flag raising ceremony and were assisted by Lance Corporal William O'Hara who recently returned from Iraq. On 9/5/07 the detachment welcomed home from Iraq Lance Corporal William O'Hara at the Township public meeting.  They also assisted in the placement of USMC flags for 2 other Marines currently i Iraq.
Detachment attended Northampton Township meeting to accept flag on behalf of former resident Sgt. Joel Hight who now resides in CA. The Detachment assisted in the Northampton Township Flag Day Ceremony held on Flag Day, June 14, 2007 at the Townships Municipal Park. Click here or the sidebar link for the story and some photos. Also on Memorial Day, May 28, 2007 the Detachment provided the Color Guard for the Remembrance Ceremony in honor of Army PFC Robert Dembowski, Jr. who was killed in Iraq on May 24, 2007. Past Commandant Art Ruth presented Commandant George Kelly with a plaque of the Detachment's logo at the 3/21/07 meeting. New member Richard Brennan is sworn in by Commandant Kelly at the 3/21/07 meeting. At the 2/28/07 Northampton Supervisors meeting Detachment members were on hand to honor a flag placed by the Supervisors in honor of L.Cpl. William O'Hara serving in Iraq.
Outgoing Commandant Art Ruth turns over the reigns to new Detachment Commandant George Kelly at the 2/21/07 ceremony New Detachment Officers are sworn in by Ed Hoth, Chaplain, Central Bucks Detachment & past Commandant Dept of NJ. Just before the installation of the new Officers took place at the 2/21/07 Detachment meeting, outgoing Commandant Art Ruth swore in 2 new members, Mike Lecker and John Frain, Jr.
Paymaster Pete Palestina represented the Detachment at the 2/11/07 and assisted the Hebrew School students of the Community Torah Center of Bucks County in their grand Purim packaging “Treats for the Troops Project”.  The students collected and packaged food and personal items to be sent to

 Jewish soldiers serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and military bases around the world. Palestina spoke to the students about the importance of this act of kindness and support for our troops relating his experience in the Marine Corps.  Shown here with Rabbi Dovid Max.

On 11/26/06 presented to 5 Eagle Scouts of Troop 280 at the Church of God's Love (Michael Small, Kyle Shamberg, Peter Kuhn II, Matthias Heinz & Matthew Ansel.
On 11/5/06 Commandant Ruth presented a League Citation to Eagle scout Sean Gallagher at the Langhorne United Methodist Church. Detachment members participated in a welcome home from Iraq ceremony for L. Cpl. Pearson Crosby at the Northampton Twp. Supervisors meeting of 7/12/06. He was at Camp Lejeune but his family accepted. Detachment members participated in a welcome home from Iraq ceremony for Air Force Lt. Col. Paulette Schank at the Northampton Twp. Supervisors meeting of 6/28/06. Also on 6/28/06 we assisted with placement of flags with the mothers of L.Cpl. Bill Aschinger and Army Spec. Mike Pinciotti, both of whom are currently serving in Iraq.

Our newly chartered Marine Corps League Patriot Detachment #1230 led by Commandant Art Ruth and the VFW District 8 Commander Jay Gotchall attended the March 8, 2006 Northampton Township Board of Supervisors meeting to honor Marine PFC Matt Devlin.
On March 22, 2006 we assisted in honoring Marine PFC Michael Potts at the Supervisors meeting.
